Replacement battery for DMC-TZ1 camera

This is example Panasonic CGA-S007A/1B Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery for Panasonic DMC-TZ1-Series Digital Cameras comment from customer : I purchased these batteries from ‘Triplenet Pricing’.

On the batteries, it said 970mAh instead of the 1000mAh I expected. Triplenet Pricing investigated this for me.

The reason for the change from 1000mAH to 970mAH was explained as follows from the factory:

This is because of world wide regulation change. Instead of Typical capacity, “Minimum Capacity Ratings will be indicated on battery body based on the IEC standard(IEC61960) which issued by international Electrotechnical Commission.”

So there was actually no change in the battery. Instead of listing the normal capacity, they list the minimum capacity per IEC standards.

These batteries work as expected, and I am happy with the responsiveness of Triplenet Pricing.

Pros: The battery works fine. It recharged good. I used it once and I believe it lasts longer than my Panasonic one.
You get a small tripod.
It’s cheaper than other batteries.
Quick delivery, despite what is says about the long delivery time.

Cons: The tripod is small and the bottom smells like motor oil.
The screen protector worked for a few days for me. If you put it in your pocket don’t count on keeping it. Once the corners go forget about it. It does reseal if you wash it. A claim they make that is true. This doesn’t matter though if the corners flip up though.
You have to guess when you cut the screen protector.
Bottomline: If you get this for the battery it’s a good deal. If you want the other stuff go elsewhere. I bought a screenprotector at Walmart 2.96 for 4 and you just have to cut on the lines. The tripod is nice, small, and smells. I’ll give it a four stars because I really only wanted the battery. If you are looking to buy everything, I’d say 3 stars. Cheers….

The prvious three had been Canon which we had always been impressed with (I have long favored Canon for SLR cameras). The last two Canon cameras had failed after too short a time and I started looking for an alternate. The Panasonic Lumix met all my requirements with the best feature set and price. The camera has proven itself with hundreds of pictures. We also now use it for video clips. Being able to quickly change flash settings is important since I often want to take picutes alternating flash and natural light. The zoom is fantastic the view screen is large and bright. I really have not been able to find any negatives. Now I rarely carry my larger digital SLR since the Lumix does such a great job and lives in my wife’s purse rather than round my neck.

The Standard Battery that comes with the TZ5 is 1000 mAh … This Battery is 1400 mAh. Sounds good so far, But 7 bucks for 2 (TWO) of them ??

What to do … I hope someone else makes this purchase and after 12 different charges, reports on how many pictures they were able to get per charged battery.

Got tired of dragging around a big camera. Have had a number of digitals but wanted a good compact one for a trip to Bolivia two years ago. My daughter works for a huge advertising company and said the “Geeks” there used Panasonic Lumixs. While the Canon always got the best reviews, this one ran a close 2nd or third. I bought it for the Leica lens, large display screen and the ease of operation. Had good results and liked it. Alas, this winter snowboarding in the mountains, I crashed and landed on my camera!.(I thought I had it protected!) I cracked the digital display screen. Rather than pay to have it fixed, I ordered a new one from YA YA. It arrived in 4 days, and the price was right. (The upside is now I have 2 batteries and 2 chargers.) P.S. For sale: One lumix camera, hardly used W/O battery………..00

I have had this camera for almost a year now. It is the best camera I have had. I love the 10x zoom.
There isn’t anything about this camera that I do not like. I have learned that the zoom is more important than the
megipixels, if you aren’t going to be printing huge pictures. 10x zoom is awesome and worth spending a bit more
for a bigger zoom.

The lens that this panasonic series uses is the best of the best. While I PERSONALLY prefer the Lumix TZ-3 (the older model), for it’s manual photography options, this is of similar quality. I bought 2 cameras in this series and they are all exceptional. Panasonic does such a great job with digial cameras. The optical zoom is its best feature.

This camera takes high quality pictures but is very dificult and confusing to operate.
Too many adjustments needed. I will replace with a Cannon next time as they have been easier to operate in the past. Battery life is okay. My wife dropped it once on our vacation and the lcd screen now has large dark line running diagnol across it. Scrren is exposed and has NO protection form impact. Not very durable.
